I have been engaged to present the post-conference workshop at Clinical Outsourcing World 2010 in London on 5th February. The theme is project management of outsourced clinical trials.

The new book `Healing, Hype or Harm?' is launched, edited by Edzard Ernst. I contributed two chapters, one on the politics of complementary and alternative medicine (jointly with Professor Ernst), and one on evidence in health care - what it is, and how we get it. Available at Amazon.

I have been appointed an Expert Peer Reviewer for the National Institute of Health Research - Health Technology Assessment Programme. Good heavens, what a very long title. I hope this voluntary appointment is a bit more concise than its name.

I was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Biology, the foremost body for professional biologists. This has been almost a lifelong ambition, and in the event was to a large extent awarded because of my voluntary work in support of evidence based medicine.

At long last I decided to formalise my many years of experience in project managing clinical research, and was accepted as a full member of The Association for Project Management.

After over 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry, it's nice to receive an accolade which reflects that. I have just been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Clinical Research, the leading professional body for clinical trials specialists whether from industry or academia.
